RIGHTEOUS STYLE

Inspiration Shared

I was watching fashion TV a few days ago, when something came on… Something, that sounded strange, even, for Fashion TV which we all know is full of strangeness… It was an advert, and though it could have passed for one of the many ‘fashion parties’ adverts that constantly stream through FTV, interrupting the ‘fashion’, about ten seconds into it, I already knew what it was… And I stopped, watched, chuckled a bit… It’s Cavalli for H & M, and ‘he is the party’.

The collection, which is about 45 pieces, 20 mens and 25 women, hits stores in two days (November 8th), it’s very glossy, with lots of pints and sequins, perfect for the girl who doesn’t want to break the bank but wants new clothes for the up coming Christmas party season…

This exclusive collection will look amazing, with hair extensions, stilleto heels and red liptstick. It is definitely not for those who like to keep it simple, and it is definitely not the faint heartedl!!!

Here’s the advert:

For his book ‘One Hundred Young Americans’, photographer Michael Franzini set out across all fiffty states, in a few short months to meet, interview and take pictures of teenagers, teenagers all extremely different, from farm girls to prom queens, from the jocks to the gang members… Teenagers who representation of what it is like to be an American in this day and age.

The photographs are striking, some sad, some funny and some are just simply shocking…

But ultimately, the perfect book, the perfect present.

More information can be found on the One Hundred Young Americans website, Michael Franzinis website and of course you can buy the book from Amazon.

When was the last time you went into The Gap, to actually buy something?

Do you remember?

I don’t, well… I did pop in to have a sneak peek to view the collection that supports our favourite charity Project Red, a while ago… But, the last thing I bought from them was my trusty long brown trench (impulse… it was cold outside buy) about four years ago.

Though we had freakishly warm weather today, it is that time of year again, sweater-on t shirt-on tank time… Layering perfection time… And this is why I went into the Gap again, I was bottom layer shopping, and after after too much time at American Apparel, I remembered their soft classic tees (that get softer with time), and so I headed to their flagship, where I discovered a whole range of clothes, simple, running around the flat, running around shopping, last forever, classic pieces, that I’m sure to wear over and over again.

I still love myMarc Jacobs, and when on the high street my first stop is still usually Zara, but how did I continuously miss the perfect lounge wear that can only really be found at the Gap…

Dorm matron at The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls, dismissed then arrested for on major assault charges!

In January, Opah Winfrey opened up a $40 million dollar girls school in South Africa… It was a big deal, as she was fulfilling a promise she made to Nelson Mandela six years ago to give African students a better future… Mariah Carey, Spike Lee, Tina Turner and Sydney Poitier attended the opening.

Oprah handpicked the lucky 152 students out of around 3,5000 who applied, giving the otherwise under privileged girls the opportunity to get a world class education in a setting which, well, is a lot better than most boarding school in the world.. Think 200 thread count sheets, a yoga studio, beauty salon and indoor and outdoor theaters…

I thought that was a bit much, after all even those who can afford those luxuries for their children send them to boarding schools, that yes, cost a bit of money… But don’t have ‘beauty salons’. I don’t see how it can be good to expose those girls to such excessive luxury… Yes, I think they deserve the best education, but 200 thread count sheets, and a beauty salon?!

Over the past few months, the school has not only gotten some good, and some negative reviews… Though the negative does seem to be over powering the good these days.

In March parents complained that the school was too strict, almost like prisons they needed to fill out form after form to be able to contact their children.

In May, parents complained that their children were not allowed junk food (okay, err.. what?) and that they had to go through a security gate when they visited their children…

A few days ago, the biggest scandal ever when one of the school matrons was dismissed and then arrested after being accused of abusing the children, both physically and sexually!

Oprah flew to South Africa immediately she heard the news… The parents did not complain about that.

Now is it okay to sleep for ten hours straight?

In the past two days, my computer crashed, I lost content, broke things… But I did not moan about any of that, I kept it positive and went to see movies instead…

However, I said the first, and it is the first… So we’re live, in all our mish-mashed madness!

I have backed up, fixed my second laptop and basically there shall be no reason to rush anything ever again.

Stick around, I want to grow up and grow old with you!

As usual, contact me via email, for any reason whatsoever, I am already accepting questions… I hope you enjoy Righteous Style, though technically, this is not part of my official ‘According to Eden’ section (which shall come up on the sidebar soon), do come to the blog daily!

As a treat, I made myself french toast this morning for breakfast! Followed my amended Hungry Girls recipe, (I think I am on a diet!) and managed to get all the sweet sticky goodness down without any of the gross stocky fatness…
