First of all, blame Kate Moss! Or rather, blame all the people (even though the shouldn’t) wear skinnies so much, Kate felt the need, as of late last summer, to start to confuse us…
First it was the Diesel ‘Louvely’, I remember seeing a paparazzi picture and thinking, ”wait a minute, I had or maybe still have, those jeans… Somewhere deep and far down in my closet”. Then it was the ‘Lovestory’ by J Brand, I was already a huge fan of J Brand, and thought they were not available to buy in the UK for months, I had wasn’t scarred, revolve let me by them from the states. J Brand made newer versions of ‘Lovestory’ and ‘The Doll’, in a variety of washes and in a more comfortable fit… Kate started to wear them everywhere, EVERYWHERE! The next paparazzi picture I saw had me starring at Paris Hilton wearing them too, ‘boo… ‘

Other brands followed, first the premium denim labels, 18th Amendment being one of the first, and then of course, the high street… Ironically, one of the first high street chains to catch on to this trend was Topshop, not ‘Moto Denim’, but the ‘Kate Moss for Topshop collection’, I really do think it was by no coincidence that Kate Moss designed jeans for Topshop, that were almost an identical copy of her favourite Lovestory jeans (see the ‘Stevie’ jeans below).
